Behind the new nude of a Peruvian streaming-TV host.

 

Elías Velasco (born November 21^st, 1974, in Lima, Peru, where he lives) was inside the bathroom just wearing a long green coat. He breathed deeply. He might think this was the fourth time he did in his lifetime. “I’m gonna perform a character,”  He got calm, opened the door, went out to the living-room, took off the cloth. He was fully naked.

 

Outside, his two producers waited for him as well as the plastic artist Miguel Rosas with three apprentices. Everybody understood he was ready. Elías seated as the painter requested, he posed in nuts.

 

“I felt nervous, a little distressed, too watched in general,” said the creator, director, and host of Café & Conversa (Coffee Talk), his inspiring and very nice TV-show on YouTube which elías sits down to chat in-depth with son many diverse guests.

 

For the episode about Miguel Rosas, elías’ producer suggested to talk on camera, to show part of the male nude the plastic artist paints, and elías to become a model: “It seemed me a pretty risky, controversial, but very artistic idea.”

 

The host couldn’t refuse because he thinks if a journalist has to tell the story very well, he must become a part of it in some sense. In other words, if he had to talk about beautiful men painted fully naked… so he had to become one of them. To elude the censorship on YouTube, that forbids to show explicitly the cock, the balls, or the whole ass, his producers chose shots showing just his beautiful torso and legs.

 

Today, Elías Velasco tells for the very first time, exclusively for Hunks of Piura, these secret insights he neither confessed on that commented episode.

 

Big flesh, Little self-esteem

In 1993,Elías was another thin Lima-native guy who felt too little, psychologically speaking. He just closed a toxic relationship that became violent. His boyfriend drank, got away, and when he came back, what should be a romantic date, turned rising outrageous fights each time. Then, strikes arrived. Eventually, the intoxicated lover raped Elías.  “Having forced sex with somebody is a rape,” he affirms today. “That depressed me much, I cloistered, I was too thin,” he remembers.

 

He changed his mind when he asked for a job at a fashion store. The owner was a LGTBIQ+: “How an ugly guy is going to sell pretty clothes?,” he faced.

 

Once upon an afternoon, one friend asked him going to a basket match at Guadalupe School, Lima Downtown. When he realized, he was inside a gym. “My body changed in a year, I started to make me over.” His muscles amazed, wondered what Elías used to revenge: “If I was mistreated, I had to mistreat now.”

 

He went ahead. In 2004, he started to study the secrets of these physiques awaking forbidden desires. So then, he was involved in a second relationship: “My boyfriend paid me the classes.”

 

In 2007, Elías performed in public by wearing a tanga underneath a beautiful ass and a tasty bulge already highlighted. He reached Mister Peru, hustled the biggest stars of bodybuilding & fitness. In fact, he achieved the third place in classic bodybuilding category. Previously, he got a second place in Mister Lima, the same category. He wan Mister Summer. He was 33 years old.

 

The problem was that beautiful shape needed him to consume anabolics. A bone disease activated putting him on a bed. “I fell to 108 pounds.” As a reference, Elías is 5’6 feet, so his ideal weight should be between 148 and 154 lbs. “I tried suicide, but something stopped I dove… What was it? I don’t have clear anyway.”

 

Next 12 months were intensive psychiatric treatment. The wish to die was resuming step by step but the notion of himself continued very underrated. “I felt a poor guy in every respect.”

 

The best butt

Before the full nude he made for his show, Elías Velasco got naked three times. In 2008, in a campaign addressed to escorts in Panama an for Peru’s Health Ministry (Minsa, as in Spanish). Again for Minsa in 2011, this time associated with Lima’s Movement of Homosexuals and Lesbians, amid a campaign called Use Me. For a French photographer in 2012, who published them in a magazine for men.

 

The second shoot was special because it was about rising awareness on the use of condom, and because elías shared the set with other two pretty-body models who enacted sexual positions but covered in latex ffrom head to feet. He could deal with the fact of posing alone, but making it with other two models scared him. “I felt a few modesty and nerves,” he tells.

 

The photographer was assertive to melt the ice so the shoot was made, although it lasted 7 hours. One strategy was lauding elías’ ass. “It’s the best butt I’ve ever seen,” he said, explained it – it was worked out well, looked like very masculine. We tried to look at it again – he has it pretty tasty, although he asks us order immediately: “I like how my butt has got, but I rather like my eyes… like if they spoke seeing.”

 

The Use Me campaign was pretty successful across Peru, although elías’ mom didn’t like her son’s nude body was exhibited at gay bars and discos. “I made it because it was a background.”

 

Having a beautiful body also made him attractive for the escorting business. It happened in 2007.  He didn’t accept. He was also proposed to perform sex with other Peruvian and foreign bodybuilders paying him from 1000 to 1500 dollars per play. He refused again. “I didn’t accept because I didn’t consider it strategic,” he explains. An Argentinian referee was the models recruiter. Few later, the scandal of Peruvian naked bodybuilders blasted strongly on the media.

 

Inner beauty first

Having a beautiful body is a lifestyle for elías now, but the physique is not the first he focused on. The first training is mental: “As you’re gonna be inside, you’re gonna be outside.” The presenter recognizes himself as a patient who has treated his depression and his anxiety. His mental search has understood the root of the problem began since the same moment he was conceived.

 

A boyfriend? No. He already learned it’s better to take the needed time for choosing better. He is in love of himself, rather. “It’s working me to focus on real things, not surrounding myself with people who don’t add anything.” His keyword is empathy or wearing the other’s shoes. He can take better decisions so. “I feel free, healed.,” he smiles.

 

Elías assures the best gift you can give yourself is changing because it’s your own business, not because the people say it. “My life is not managed by a collective acceptance but inner acceptance.”

 

What about his past? “I can’t argue on the experiences  of my life because they allow me to stay surer.”And part of that growing-up was creating Café & Conversa: “The show was released more by a cathartic issue due to a second breaking-up,” he confesses.

 

A hard-on warning

As part of that new adventure, we get to that morning when Elías posed fully naked in front of Miguel Rosas. After taking off the long coat, the next challenge was keeping frozen. And the little problem of Elías is he ever moves much.

 

He was seated for three hours. “I got cramps in butts, calves, and feet.”  That activated him the anxiety and nerves, and both turned on his 6’7-inch penis. “Miguel, I think that part wants to rise a bit,” he said to the plastic artist. “That’s usual,” Rosas replied him, naturally. Said so, his dick slept again.

 

Showing his 5’6 feet and his actual 159 lbs required some body preparation. He cut a little his hair in pubis and legs. For his two first nudes, he did fully shave.

 

When he finished to pose and saw his naked body painted on the canvas, he left very satisfied. “It impressed me the color he printed on… I felt very cared and protected by Miguel… I felt very plenty.”

 

Elías thinks to be a pretty average guy. “I don’t consider myself handsome but I feel attractive.” Despite the nude and his physique, he don’t consider himself a sex-symbol anyway. “I consider myself a guy amid a growing-up process looking for inner beauty,” he states. That doesn’t get the focus out of his physique which he, as he says, wouldn’t change anything at this time of his life.

 

“The picture Miguel made me is a skin expressing colors throughout the canvas, that he knew to place what I like much of me – my eyes.” What how the people takes it for good, for bad,for sexualizing, don’t care him.

 

Elías believes the session he did for Miguel Rosas has benefit his work as a media personality. In fact, he thinks the body “is a speaking temple or canvas.”  “If I am proposed to do a nude and I feel it’s going to add into my professional life, I’d accept it, either,” he assures.

How long and why are you producing Peruvian Boys?

Peruvian Boys is a project that is around 10 years old as an idea. It was becoming real four years ago throught a website, and as a blog and a PDF-format magazine, three years ago, plus a YouTube channel taking advantage from information technologies’ access, and looking to evolve with them.

Why do you believe that Peruvian male mixture was not explorated yet?

The Peruvian mixture’s unrating is caused by terrible traumas printed since spanish conquering time, and that is still going on in our deep collective soul.

The almost indigenous ermination, exploitation of people brought from Africa are deep wounds, and regrets linked to impossed religion.

Added to this, the excessive European culture and race worship has mixed-up and put  the ways to perceive our reality’s diversity upside down.

Which one of your works demanded more complicated production process?

The most complicated was set the models free fronm their enormous complexes and regret, linked to be naked before a camera, something still subsistent.

Sometimes, the lack of logistics was a difficult. Although it was solved with imagination, it was ever a limitation.

As a weird pproduction experience, we got trapped over rocks once tide increased. Since that experience, eberytime I go to shot in areas nearby the sea, I carry out my tide forecast report.

Have you worked with Piurano models?

In Piura, I made some photo sessions. As in every processs, some were pretty productive, and others I got frustrated. Sometimes, I traveled in vain to Piura City, although I was comitted with models to make the session – in other words, they never went to the callings.

Which one do you believe is the great appeal of Peruvian men?
It’s a quite difficult question to answer just ’cause the mixture in our country is so deep and diverse that there’s not a parameter to determine a particular physical appeal.

Precisely, Peruvian men features don’t fit to established parameters by European canons.

I do believe  the Peruvian men’s appeal is their spontaneous personality more than their physical features, and that is what I just try to express in my photo essays, now.

How do you believe you’ve gotten to reflect that appeal in your work?

I consider my work is still beginning. There’s much to do. Peruvian mixture is enormous, and I hope to print it next times, in more ellaborated productions, the riches of our people’s mixture.

Tourism4Hunks – The Land of Everlasting Heat

Piura, in the north-west of Peru, is one of the hottest regions in the world, not only for its weather but their men.
Even at the highlands, you’ll find guys to meet, places to explore, times to enjoy, remembrances to not be forgotten.
By plane, you can get here arriving first to Limaa, then taking other plane or bus. The first option takes one hour 40 minutes at the most; the second one is about 15 hours using non-stop services.
Other cheap chance is arriving to Guayaquil, Ecuador, and taking a bus to here that can be as longer as 8 hours. The detail is as you cross Peru-Ecuador border, you must be previously informed about custom policies.
The most appreciated international curency is U.S. dollar. One of those greens is 2,70 soles (updated November 2011 – get back in here to see changes before you travel).
What to visit? Well, Piura has beaches, deserts, agricultural valleys, dry forests, rain forests and morrs. The weird thing is that, although Piura includes a portion of andean Range, the top summit is about 3900 meters above sea level (12795 feet).
Geographically, Piura has two regions: coast (Costa) and the range or highlands (/Sierra).
The coast starts at sea level and raises until 500 meters. It has two parts, the Pacific Rim or Beaches Zone, where the best known are Colán or Máncora, but you have more options: Los Órganos, Cabo Blanco, Talara, Cangrejos, Yacila, or sechura.
People are accostumed to take sun in large swimsuits, but speedos are tolerated in many places.
Little trunks and G-strings are not common, so it could be better asking before. There are some beaches where nudism can be practiced, but are so hidden, according to many of our friends.
The other part is the combination of valleys plus sechura Desert. Here is located Piura and sullana cities, the two largest in the region, with lots of commercial and meetings options.
Although you must be alert because of crimes, especially if your contact is not safe.
If you prefer countryside, you can walk along canals near Tambogrande or Chulucanas. If you’re lucky, you can meet men taking a bath clothing like Adam, especially in the late afternoon. Between Tambogrande and Chulucanas is Yapatera, the African-Peruvian center of this part and homeland of sportsmen.
The highlands have amazing landscapes. Ayabaca, Montero and Huancabamba can impress you by that.
If you’re looking for contacts, Huancabamba is more friendly than Ayabaca, which is so conservative. Take care.
Other place you can be interested in is Canchaque, where landscapes are beautiful. With some luck, men too.

The best place to fish pleasure

Miguel Rosas: “There’s still a belief the male nude is obscene.”

Let’s know something else about the Peruvian plastic artist & painter who encourages us to undress  for making art.

 

What about “the man’s naked body is beautiful” is not something new –we show it here among other stuff. But what about a Peruvian plastic artists has dared to print and show it in public – that’s called being gutsy, indeed.

 

We’re not talking about boys in nuts taken out from his imagination. Miguel Rosas (Lima, Peru, January 19, 1992) draws and paints males who who get naked before him at his workshop, so he goes printing them feature by feature, muscle by muscle, inch by inch, even the penis or the testicles.

 

Miguel Rosas Drew since a child but he had to submit to the exigency for studying a career paying his bills. He chose economy. But an accident that left him disabled to walk for some months focused him on the drawing and painting – it helped him as a therapy.

The issue is Miguel drew what everybody draws. You know, landscapes, traditions, stuff anyway. Then, he broke the frontier once upon a day and traced naked boys. How did you get to hold strong on your decision to draw and paint male bodies?

It was something I wanted to experience of art in the beginning. I already had made other topics in painting but I wanted to paint male nude, then I continued because of the fascination I have when I make my works.  It’s a experience I enjoy by drawing the lines, adding the color, getting to print the male beauty.

 

Were you afraid of it, anytime?

Yes, I was. In the beginning, I thought if I painted male bodies, and nudes overall, I couldn’t post due I could break out reactions against because it’s most common in art to see the female nude. But I was overcoming these fears.

 

How did you overcome them?

In the process to make the paintings and meeting the models who performed, I was realizing what I made was such as wonderful or more, like the rest of the art – I should continue to make it.

How would you rate that first session with your first model posing nude?

It was good. It was a friend of mine who posed for that occasion – I felt very comfortable. I liked much the result too, I could learn much from that first experience.

 

Was it easy to propose the nude to your friend?

It wasn’t much. He already had posed for me but dressed. I had to convince him to pose nude for making some drawings and a painting. The trust he had to me was what he motivated in the end.

In your experience, does the Peruvian male get nude easily for being printed in a drawing or a painting?

No, he doesn’t. Many prefer to pose with some clothes fearing to show their bulge to other folk. Also, there’s still a belief the male nude is obscene as to be represented in art.

 

Why isn’t obscene to print a male nude?

Because the art is free and the male nude is part of Nature. The idea it’s obscene, or not, depends more on the culture of the people in a determined part of the world.

 

But it persists the fear to show without clothes, especially the penis, the testicles, or the buttocks, doesn’t it?

Yes, it does. There’s a conservative culture of modesty to show the bulge.

 

Peruvian Pre-Hispanic cultures represented hard penis. Even, there’s an actual controversy about pottery seeming a hard penis. In your judge, is art to show a hard-on?

Sure. The art shows every stage of people’s life. If it’s possible to represent an action like the work, eating, sleeping, why not the sex or a hard-on too?

 

So, why so much scandal when a boy decides to pose showing his hard penis, or ejaculating inclusive?

Because aside the artists, the rest of people don’t have that artistic background  because they don’t have much contact to the art. Other reason is because this kind of art is not usual, this is just exposing to the public.

 

And we, the men, art pieces by definition, aren’t we?

Of course. We are an art piece of the Creation.
