Welcome to Piura! This land is ideal for having fun, but the best way is doing it with safety, so those are some advices you can take for being successful.

- Choose a very known transportation agency, or take transportation in a very known terminal (*).
- Verify you have all you need, so make a checklist before travelling. Check this out very time you ned it.
- Try to have a discrete profile. The most of robberies happen when you show the thief any sign that can teases him.
- Don't give information to any person, especially if you don't know him/her. Stay in touch with your relatives, friends or us (*) to know where you are and acting in case of emergency.
- If you're a victim of robbery, don't fight with your aggresor (weven when yoou have advantage). Report the fact to the nearer Police Station. Although Police don't recover that you lost, this information will be useful for them for preventing others. Media can be useful too in this cases (*).
- Untrust on the first person gets you trying to be a friend, but be friendly.
- Choose good referred restaurants, bars or discos. Hold all the receipts in case of claims.
- Sun protection is not optional, but mandatory. The last year,it was reported a raising of sun radiation for Piura. You can get information about it (in Spanish) at http://www.senamhi.gob.pe/, or http://www.weather.com/.
- As Peru is part of Pacific's Ring of Fire, earthquakes can happen without notification. Get a radio receiver with MW (AM( band, and get it tuned on RPP (in Piura, it's 920 AM) or Radio Cutivalú (630 AM) for breaking news alerts.
If an earthquake happens, run out from the beach rim because a possible tsunami (especially if http://www.usgs.gov/ says it's over 7.5 Richter). Don't use mobile sysystem because of collapse, but SMS or Internet. You can also dial 119 for dropping an emerncy message. We've aput able a reception phone number for those cases. (*).
- Don't have any person to your hotel room, especially if you met him/her recently. You can request referrals to us (*).
- Don't accept any drink or something from people you don't know. Don't drink a lot, until getting unconcious, because those are the first persons in being chosen as targets for thieves.
- Have more condoms and lubs than you need.
- Have all your medications, bbecause drugstores in here couldn't have them or staying closed.
- By the way, supply with all you need in Piura, Sullana or Talara, because many little beaches don't have enough stores or stores don't have enough groceries.
- It's OK if you pay with debit card, but better it's pay cash, because of cards clonation. Get information in the local Police Station.
- Do you have insurance? Get information about what things it covers nand wwhat not.
- Care yourself a lot. ERs in here are not like in your country, so get away from risks.
